Kroos choose Sri end Pedri’s tournament with this tackle
In a concerning sight for FC Barcelona, key midfielder Pedri has suffered an injury while playing for Spain at the UEFA Euro 2024 against Germany.
Starting the quarterfinal contest against the host nation at the MHPArena in Stuttgart, the 21-year-old midfield sensation suffered a knock on his left knee just five minutes into the contest.
Indeed, Pedri went tumbling over on the field following a challenge from Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos, who went without being cautioned for the wrongly-timed tackle.
Pedri, after being looked over by the medical staff, tried to carry on, but only a couple of minutes later the youngster went to the ground grimacing in pain.
The medical team came on to take a look at the injury again and it was decided that the Barcelona midfielder would not continue.
In the eighth minute, Pedri hobbled off the field making way for former La Masia man Dani Olmo, who took over Spain’s No. 10.
As for Pedri, the injury is a major concern for Barcelona, especially considering his past fitness woes. With the pre-season looming large, Hansi Flick & co. will hope that the issue is nothing serious.
Having endured an injury-riddled 2023/24 campaign, Pedri had been showing signs of recovering his best form at the Euros so far.
So, the latest fitness setback comes at a very bad time for the generational talent and Barcelona will be praying that the problem is nothing major.
But the fact that Pedri was in tears as he left the pitch and headed straight to the locker room with the team doctor is a big cause for worry.
