Scotland were no match for Julian Nagelsmann’s side and their chances of getting something out of the Group A clash decreased when they were reduced to 10 men.

Ryan Porteous was shown a straight red card for a shocking tackle on Ilkay Gundogan just before the break following a swift VAR review.

Match referee Clement Turpin also reviewed a decision through VAR when he pointed to the spot following Ryan Christie’s challenge on Musiala.

But after reviewing the incident, he overturned his decision and cancelled the penalty to award a free-kick.

And the VAR decision was shown and explained to fans inside the stadium.

“Penalty cancelled. Foul was committed by Scotland’s player No.11 outside the penalty area,” read the message on the big screen.

The transparency of the VAR review was praised by fans on social media as they want it introduced in England’s top flight.

One X user wrote: “This is a good development… But am sure English Premier League will not see this…”

A second tweeted: “This is a good development.”

A third added: “Nah, this is rare UEFA win.”

A fourth said: “Need this in the PL next season instead of just ‘Decision: no penalty’.”

Another commented: “Premier League will never do this, because this is too good.”
