A top striker, who has continually been linked with a move to Arsenal, could reject new contract offers to force a move in January.

Arsenal continue to pursue Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres, who has been in sensational form for Sporting CP this season. However, the Portuguese club is planning a pay rise to keep hold of their star player, despite being unlikely to match the financial power of Premier League clubs.

Sporting CP hopes to persuade Gyökeres, 26, to stay by quietly increasing his salary, though they will not offer a contract extension or make a public statement on the negotiations, according to Portuguese outlet Record. Despite his strong performances, the forward’s future remains uncertain, as Arsenal closely monitor the situation.

Gyökeres has been one of Europe’s standout players this season, contributing eight goals and five assists in just six games for Sporting and Sweden. His remarkable form has drawn attention from several clubs, with Arsenal particularly keen on bringing the forward to the Premier League.
