According To A Report, Manchester United Return With A Fresh Bid For PSG And Uruguayan International As Club Sees Him As The Perfect Man Who Can Replace Casemiro At Old Trafford. Casemiro Problem Increase As Club Eyes Replacement.
Manchester United might make another attempt to sign Manuel Ugarte, according to reports. The Red Devils are seeking a defensive midfielder with Casemiro expected to leave this summer, likely moving to one of the major Public Investment Fund-owned Saudi clubs due to his age and declining performance last season.
In their quest to find a suitable replacement for the Brazilian, United’s search has brought them to France, focusing on PSG’s Manuel Ugarte, who joined the Parisian club last summer for €60 million. Despite being highly sought after last summer, the Uruguayan international had an underwhelming first season in Paris.
Reports from French and English media indicate that United’s initial bid for Ugarte was rejected, with PSG seeking a fee closer to what they originally paid for him. While transfer expert Fabrizio Romano downplayed the existence of an official offer, journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed that United did make a bid and provided further insights into the situation.
According to Jacobs, PSG remains undecided about whether to let Ugarte go. Key figures within the club are not keen on forcing the 23-year-old out, but a summer transfer is still a possibility. Manchester United might return with an improved bid to persuade PSG to sell.
If PSG decides to sell Ugarte, the proceeds could help them pursue Benfica’s highly-rated Joao Neves, who has also been linked with Manchester United but is deemed too expensive. Ugarte is also attracting interest from clubs in Germany, Italy, and other English teams, which means United might face stiff competition and need to act quickly to secure his services. However, it remains uncertain whether United will increase their offer or shift their focus to other targets.
