BREAKING: Arsenal In Pole Position To Sign £60M Spanish Winger As Mikel Arteta Looks To Pull Off Major Upset Like Man United Did With Leny Yoro

Arsenal could pounce on an opportunity to sign Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams if his move to Barcelona collapses.

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal have reignited their interest in Nico Williams, and they are waiting in the wings to see what happens to his potential move to Barcelona. If the move to the Catalan club collapses, they will jump in to lure him to North London.

Arsenal remain keen on signing Nico Williams

Arsenal were one of the initial clubs to have registered their interest in the Athletic Club star. But, they had taken a back seat after being made aware of his lofty wage demands. However, it seems their boss Mikel Arteta is once again keen on the services of Williams.

Having seen him do wonders for Spain at Euro 2024 and play a massive part in their title-winning campaign, the Spanish manager seems convinced that the 22-year-old left-winger could help them take the next step and end their wait for the league title.

Arsenal feel the Spaniard could provide Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard with strong competition for a place in the starting XI. Nico Williams will only get better with time. As a result, he could be an exceptional signing for the short as well as the long run.

However, the player seems to have his heart set on a move to Barcelona, and Arsenal will only make a move if his transfer to the Spanish giants falls off. The Catalan giants have been working hard to secure his services despite all their financial limitations.

The Blaugrana have already put forward an offer for the player and are waiting to get a response from the Spanish international. Barcelona are confident that money won’t be a problem and they will get a great light from La Liga to activate his release clause which is worth around £50 million.

Arsenal could get an opportunity to sign Williams

Since they are waiting for a response from the player and will need verification from La Liga before triggering his release clause, Barcelona fear that they could lose out on him if they hit a roadblock in their pursuit.

Chelsea are one of the clubs who could pounce on such an opportunity as they are looking for a new left-winger to bolster their squad. But, Arsenal seem to be the bigger threat at this point.

They might not have made a move yet because of the player’s desire to join Barcelona but are well aware of what needs to be done to sign the 22-year-old.

If his move to the Spanish giants does not reach the desired outcome, they could straight away move to negotiations with the player by triggering his release.
