Kylian Mbappe has poked fun at William Saliba for always wearing the same pair of boots. Didier Deschamps named the duo in the latest France squad as Les Bleus step up preparations ahead of the European championships this summer.

France will lock horns with Germany at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon on Saturday night before facing Chile at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille on Tuesday evening. Mbappe and Saliba will both be hoping that they’ve done enough to impress Deschamps in training, securing a place in the starting lineup.

In the meantime, the Paris Saint-Germain star and the Arsenal defender have been enjoying each others company at INF Clairefontaine, the home of French football. In one particular behind-the-scenes video, Matteo Guendouzi, Mbappe and Saliba are walking out to training together. 

With a camera on the trio, the PSG forward took the chance to aim a cheeky dig at his teammate’s choice of footwear. With Saliba reluctant to change his boots, Mbappe reportedly said: “I’m going to call Nike, I’m going to call Nike, you always wear the same shoes!”

They were later seen going head-to-head on the training pitches, with Mbappe coming out on top – and quite comfortably too. On one occasion, the striker knocked the ball past Saliba and set Warren Zaïre-Emery up for a tap-in.

It must be said, however, the Arsenal ace didn’t seem too keen on tackling the nation’s captain and talisman with a major tournament just around the corner. Mbappe and Saliba are also childhood friends.
