Holly Willoughby is protected by military-era guns for hire in a new Netflix show

NETFLIX will throw a £1million ring around Holly Willoughby in her new show Bear Hunt.

Special forces and former military guns for hire will protect Holly from gangs and kidnappers.

The streaming service has set aside £10million for Bear Hunt host Holly, co-star Bear and at least ten celebrity contestants.

The show will see celebrities learn survival skills and take part in challenges, coached by survival expert Bear.

Bosses will spend another £1million on security in the Costa Rican jungle, where mob killings, murders and attacks on bystanders are on the rise.

Gangs are experimenting with growing coca in the central American jungle, and they are continuing to turn to the brutal tactics of Mexican cartels.

A TV insider said: “Netflix is to invest big money to create a show to rival ITV’s I’m a A famous personby collecting big names and choosing a tropical location.

But keeping Holly and everyone else in Costa Rica completely safe is the number one priority.

“That means hiring special security teams, many of whom will be military and special forces experts.

“They will also need special vehicles, safe accommodation and a safe place to go movie.

“That’s not going to be straightforward or cheap in a country with a luxury tourism business combined with a dangerous underbelly.”

The stars will fly later this month and filming is expected to take place until May.

This Morning’s viewing figures have plummeted since Holly Willoughby announced she was following Philip Schofield out.

The finished program is expected to go down around January 2025, and the final batch of contestants is expected to be elite.

Holly quit ITV’s This Morning in October after the police told him it was him the goalof the murder plan.

In January it emerged that he was set to sign for Bear Hunt.

Between 2022 and 2023, the number of homicides in Costa Rica increased by more than 41 percent to 17.2 per 100,000 people.

That compares with 25.7 murders per 100,000 people in Colombia, and one per 100,000 in Britain.

PLAN AND KILLER

The threats Holly and Bear face range from snake bites in the jungle to the rising number of murders and kidnappings linked to Costa Rica’s crack tobacco trade.

The security team will return to where they will be living long before they get there.

You must understand all the risks.

The last thing Netflix wants is to end up in a narco camp in the middle of the rainforest.

And the environment is a killer: snakes, spiders, mosquitoes and disease.

If Holly or Bear need to move suddenly they may have to cut down trees to create a helicopter landing pad.

And that’s if they can raise the alarm.

Satellite phones don’t work if you can’t see the sky.

I would add chat points to ensure there is a comms bubble in the area.

Have emergency vehicles on standby and an air ambulance on call.

I will also make sure that the celebs’ dedicated personal security officers not only provide security, but are also medically trained to work in the environment.
