Reaction of Manchester United co owner to casimiro dump

Erik ten Hag’s men defeated Fulham 1-0 in their opening Premier League match of the season at Old Trafford before suffering a 2-1 away defeat to Brighton.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have won their opening two matches under manager Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout this summer.

Manchester United now welcomed rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford for their final Premier League match before the September international break.

Casemiro started for United in all four matches across all competitions this season, including the penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder was met with heavy criticism last season after his influence waned, with Casemiro looking like a shadow of his former self.

Woeful Casemiro vs Liverpool

Former Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte was unveiled in front of the Old Trafford faithful ahead of the Liverpool match.

Manuel Ugarte was a key target for Manchester United this summer and the 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder is widely tipped to replace Casemiro at the club.

Casemiro’s long-term future at Old Trafford had been in doubt this summer after his poor 2023-24 season, with the Brazilian midfielder linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia.

The Brazil international had a nightmare 45 minutes against Liverpool and played a major fault in the Reds taking a 2-0 lead against United into half-time.

Casemiro recklessly lost the ball with a poor pass and Ryan Gravenberch pounced on the ball, with the Liverpool star feeding Mohamed Salah out on the right.

Salah lifted the ball to the back post from a cross and Luis Diaz was able to connect and head home from close range against Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

Following on from Liverpool’s opener in the 35th minute, Luis Diaz won the ball off Casemiro and played out Mohamed Salah on the right.

Salah then played the ball back to Diaz, who swept a superb first-time side-footed finish past Andre Onana into the bottom
